Quinn Fined

10 10 2009

Oilers coach Pat Quinn has been fined 10 000 dollars by the NHL today for his comments on the hit Iginla had on Sheldon Souray in the second period of yesterday’s game.

Sigh

9 10 2009

Oilers let the Flames come back and win it in the shootout after scoring with under two seconds remaining. In my opinion that clutch goal was DEFIANTLY redirected with a high stick. Unless, off course, your under the impression that the guys shoulder is shorter than the 4foot tall net.

Some other news, Souray is out with a ‘mild concussion’  from what Coach Pat Quinn called “a dirty play”.

Tonights Game

8 10 2009

Just a bit of an update from yesterday’s post. Dustin Penner skated on the left side with Shawn Horcoffand Ales Hemsky, J-F Jacques skated with Sam Gagnerand Patrick O’Sullivan, Ryan Stone played left wing withGilbert Brule down the middle and Mike Comrie on right wing and Andrew Cogliano centred Ethan Moreau andZack Stortini.

Also, Steve Staois is not expected to play and instead will be replaced by Jason Strudwick.

Hopefully the new lines will help the Oilers give the Flames their first loss of the season.

Oilers vs Flames

7 10 2009

Tomorrow the Oil continue on their search for pride when they will play the Calgary Flames. The Oilers will be looking for their second straight game.

Khabibulin will try and get his 301st win after last nights landmark win. Also, Moreau was back on the ice while others, such as Pouliot, Penner, Staios, and Souray, did not show. Quinn explained after practice.

“Today was a result of a few guys missing. When we came to practice there were a couple more that I didn’t anticipate so we sort of mix-bagged it to give people a chance to work with someone else.”
Quinn commented after practice.

“Pouliot seems to have reinjured himself, Penner needed some work, Staios had his bell rung so  I don’t know where that’s going to be yet, a couple other guys had some pulls and that sort of thing. That was more the reason for the line changes today.”

I’ll be looking forward to seeing if Edmonton can pull off their first win of the season against their provincial rivals.

The game will be available on Sportsnet at 7:30..
